Amsterdam is located in Holland and is the capital of the Netherlands. The Netherlands has 12 provinces, of which two are called North Holland and South-Holland. Amsterdam is in the Southeastern part of North Holland. Holland is in the west of the small country. The Netherlands is in Western Europe and its bordering countries are Belgium in the south, Germany on the East and the North Sea on the Nord and West.
